October is the time of month to get scared. Everyone loves to go out to haunted houses and go trick or treating. For me its the best time of year. I love summer but i love Halloween. But there are a few things you still have to remember when going out trick or treating or even a haunted house.
Staying safe while trick or treating
1. Have your kids wear something lit on them.
Having your kids have a light on them it will help you keep an eye on your kids a little easier. It can be a colorful light or not.
2. Always plan the rout.
Planning what way to go and what houses to stop at is a good idea make sure your kids know what way to go and when to wait and how far they can go.
3. wear good shoes.
Trick or treating is a lot of walking and running for kids. Running door to door while you are trying to keep up. Make sure your kids have shoes that fit them well and they can walk in them for a long time. You don't want to stop a few houses in. You only have a few hours to get as much candy as you can so make sure your shoes fit well and comfy.
4. Avoid costumes that drag on the ground and find a warm costume.
Find a costume that will fit you well but also keep you warm. This time of month you never know what the weather will be. You don't want to get cold fast but you also don't want to get super hot so make sure you find something that will keep you warm and not drag on the ground. You don't want to fall while running to door to door or someone stepping on it. Stay warm and safe in your costume.
5. finding a bucket to fit all your candy.
You only get to trick or treat once so get a pillow case all fill it up. you don't have long to go to door to door so use a pillow case. It is big and it can hold a lot of candy. I used them in the past and it saved time and you got a lot more candy because you didn't need to go home and empty your bucket every few houses. A pillow case can hold all your candy while you run to every house only down side is it gets heavy but it is worth all that candy!!
6. Only go to house with the light on.
Some people can't afford buying candy or they don't do Halloween. Respect people that have the lights off only go to the house that have the lights on.
7. When it is about 9:00 pm doors and lights go off and it is time to see all the candy you have. Don't eat the candy that is not in a rapper. Make sure you eat the candy that you know was bought form the store or don't eat it! Also when it is 9:00 pm don't go trick or treating anymore come in side. After 9 it becomes unsafe for children.
Haunted house safety.
1. When you go a haunted house they cannot touch you less you go to a 18+ haunted house
2. Make sure there a more then 2 exits just in case of a fire you want to get out safe.
3. Go with someone else never go alone to a haunted house.
4. Be respectful to the actors and they will right back. Being disrespectful can lead to problems with actors or other people around you. Have fun and respect.
5. dress warm most haunted houses you wait in line outside or some are just outside dress warm the weather can change at anytime.
6. Bring extra money for some hot coco or food. Getting scared can take a lot out of you so make sure you eat.
7. If you don't feel safe tell someone that works there. When you are out for a night you want to feel safe but you want to get scared. If you don't feel safe tell someone or leave with the people you came with.
There are so much more ways to stay safe but i would be writing this all night. Always go with friends and dress to the weather outside. Remember you are in public so show respect.
